THESSALONIKI METRO

The basic characteristics of the Thessaloniki Metro network are:
1. 13 state of the art stations with a central passanger platform
2. 9.6 km of Line with two independent single track tunnels, which will be mainly constructed (7.7km) with the use of two TBM machines. The remaining section will be constructed with the Cut and Cover method.
3. 18 state of the art automated trains, fully air conditioned, which will run with an escort instead of a tube guide
4. Automated door systems on the passengers’ platforms of each station for better service and maximum safety of the passengers.
5. Creation of a train depot with a total area of 50,000 sq.m in the region of Pilaia.
